In this joyous season of spring, rejuvenation, and rebirth, we ask everyone to please join us in our annual celebration of the formation of the Barony of Tir-y-Don. This will be in a day of competition, comradery and celebration set in 1430s England!

Directions:
- From Interstate 64 take exit 250 B onto Fort Eustis Blvd/Yorktown. Stay on Fort Eustis Blvd for approximately 3.64 miles.
- Turn left onto US Route 17 North (George Washington Memorial Hwy).
- In .34 miles turn right onto Battle Road.
- In .37 miles turn left onto Old York Hampton Hwy.
- In .23 miles turn right onto Wormley Creek Dr.
- In .37 miles take second right onto Old Landing Rd. 115 Old Landing Road is on the right.

- 10:00 am Registration, MOL, A&S tables open.
- 10:30 am – 1:30 pm Martial activities (Armored/Heavy and Rapier)
- 1:30 pm A&S Judging
- 2:00 pm Court
- 3:00 pm Feast
- 5:00 pm Site closes.
Arts & Sciences:
A competition of the Arts to celebrate Tir-y-Don. The entrant piece can be in the medium of paper, fiber, paint, glass, metal or wood, and employ the colors of Tir-y-Don (blue, green and red) and/or our mascot, Finn (heraldic dolphin). A grand prize will be awarded for best entrant, and a new Baronial Champion chosen from amongst the artists wishing to be considered for the position. Documentation must be provided for those who wish to be considered for the Baronial Champion (ez-doc is acceptable). Those wishing to be considered for the baronial Arts and Science champion must provide their intent to compete to their Excellences (baron@tirydon.atlantia.sca.org or baroness@tirydon.atlantia.sca.org) at least one week prior to the event.
1430s Challenge – Provide a A&S project in any medium with documentation (EZ doc okay) in the period of 1430- 1440 from anywhere in the world that demonstrates your research and craft.
Tir-y-Don Year in Arts and Sciences – Artisans of Tir-y-Don are welcome to display the classes they have offered or participated in since the last Baronial Birthday.
Open Display – There will be space for all individuals to display their work.
Martial Activities:
There will be armored, and rapier tournaments from which Their Excellences will select champions. Those wishing to be considered for the baronial champions (Armored and Rapier) must provide their intent to compete to their Excellences (baron@tirydon.atlantia.sca.org or baroness@tirydon.atlantia.sca.org) at least one week prior to the event. Those not competing for championship are encouraged to participate.
Those warriors who are within our barony who are not competing for champion and those outside our lands are highly encouraged to participate in our melees. We wish to give those intent on becoming our champion ample opportunity to demonstrate their prowess on the field of battle. We also ask those who not engage on the field of battle to cheer and give honor to those who do battle before us.
Archery Championship:
The Archery Championship shoot will be held at Newport News Park Archery Range, on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at 10 am. Those who are interested in being considered for champion should submit a notice of intent to their excellencies at least one week prior to the competition. All archers, both from Tir-y-Don and outside our lands, are encouraged to participate. The populace is asked to please join the championship by bearing witness and providing acclaim to the bowmen.
In order to utilize the range, each archer must complete and pass the online Newport News Archery Range Safety course at least once a year. Additionally, each archer must purchase either a daily ($3) or annual pass ($30) prior to using the range. Refer to Archery – Newport News Parks & Recreation (nnparksandrec.org) or call 757-886-7912 for specific information about the safety course and the fee.
Feast:
We will have a three-course English and French inspired feast prepared by the hands of Lady Anna van Sint Maartemsdyck.
1st Course: Roasted Beef with Sauces
Roasted beef served with an assortment of sauces, including: cameline, mustard, pink garlic, & black pepper.
Manchet (rolls)
Spinach tart with pancetta and golden raisins
2nd Course: Golden Apples of Meat
Pork meatballs with a gold glaze
Swiss chard torte with garlic cheese sauce
White ravioli with ricotta and herbs
3rd: A subtlety of cake
Almond cakes
Strawberries and custard

For those who do not provide advance notice of list field space needs, field space will be assigned first come first serve the day of the event.
Great Garb and Book Exchange:
There will be garb (from various time periods and in various states of repair) and books (scadian as well as mundane topics) available to anyone who wishes to have them. We ask, in exchange, for a cash donation of whatever value you wish to give. The donations will go toward the repair or replacement of the Barony’s large pavilion tent.
